Wow - where did the year go! I am determined to be far more intentional in the new year. One area I plan to be more intentional is my choice in reading. I have pulled together a pile of books that I will read in 2018 by women authors, some I have read before, some I recently purchased, and some that I have had on my shelf and will finally read (those books I bought after hearing an inspiring speech).
Something motivates us to get a book, but we don't always follow through and actually read it. How many of you have done the same? Now you feel that guilt of having a book and not putting it to use. No longer, not in the new year. As I countdown to 2018, I am making a change. I will still read other authors next year, but I want to prioritize with these books. You may not have a theme for reading in 2018, but read all the same. Reading is essential for growth, it helps us become more innovative and creative in our approach to life and work. Growth does not happen if you stick with only your thoughts. I challenge you to make the time for yourself and grow through reading!
My starting point is revisiting Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project. I read it in 2016 after having given it as a gift to more than 20 people the previous Christmas. Everyone deserves to be more happy. I have already started on one element of the January project - "Toss, Restore, Organize". Clutter drains my energy - how about you? I am in total purging and organizing mode right now. It is a great time of year to give away items that you no longer need or want. Join me in beginning 2018 a little more sane because the clutter has been removed and - bonus - you have given to a charity you love.
Wherever you start - just start! Our biggest roadblock is not taking those first steps. Begin today!
